LOCAL veterinary nurse, Jo Clayton-Hart will be taking to the skies to raise money for Wave 105’s ‘Cash for Kids’.
The children’s charity supports children and young people across the South who have been affected by the pandemic and financial hardship.
Jo Clayton-Hart, a registered veterinary nurse at Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists in Hursley near Winchester, will be wing walking a Boeing Stearman plane on Saturday, July 2.
Contrary to the name, wing walkers do not actually walk the wing. Jo will be secured to the rig of an areoplane which was built in 1942 and initially used for pilot training during the Second World War.
The flight will last 10 minutes with the Boeing Stearman reaching up to 700ft between 80 and 110 miles per hour.
Daredevil Jo is no stranger to heights, having also accomplished a skydive and a bungee jump. She said: “A wing walk was always on my bucket list, so I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to do this and at the same time raise some money for another very worthy cause.
“Everything raised for Wave 105 in our area stays in our area, with a focus on alleviating poverty, supporting disability and improving quality of life for vulnerable children.”
So far, the veterinary nurse has raised £860 ahead of her wing walk on Saturday, exceeding her initial target of £780.
Jo’s latest adrenaline fix was a skydive to raise money for Sands, a charity which looks to support anyone affected by the death of a baby.
