AROUND 120 people attended a recent job fair in Romsey organised by Jobcentre Plus, in partnership with Test Valley Borough Council.

More than half secured follow ups, interviews, trial shifts and new job roles as a result of the event at Crosfield Hall.

Jobcentre Plus worked with Romsey’s business, events and tourism officer to contact employers and make sure there was representation from a variety of job sectors. From construction to retail and health and care to insurance, a range of local and national employers came along.

As well as employers, the event was attended by training and support organisations to help people take steps towards work.

Suzi Shilling, business, events and tourism officer at Romsey Town Council, said: “This is the first event we’ve organised on this scale and the feedback from businesses and attendees was extremely positive. It is great to work in partnership to help our community and we’re looking forward to the next one which will be in the new year.”

Cllr Nick Adams-King said: “One of our key priorities as a council is helping our communities to thrive and helping people to live fulfilled lives. One key way we can do this is to help businesses to find the right candidates, and individuals to secure employment. This event has been very successful in doing this.”
