A car has crashed into a wall behind Natwest in the city centre.

On Thursday, March 28, a car collided with a wall and doorway to the rear of the Natwest branch, located in St George's Street, and has since remained there.

Police were subsequently called and placed a traffic tape around the car. No one was injured.

Despite police's best efforts, congestion through the city in the morning has been considerable, with the lane closure forcing drivers to filter into one lane on St George's Street, slowing drivers down and causing congestion further back on the city's one-way.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We were called just after 7.30am today (Thursday, March 28) to a report of a car colliding with a wall on St Georges Street, Winchester.

"This involved a red Peugeot 207. No injuries were reported."

As of 1.20pm on Thursday, March 28 the car had been removed, as well as the hole in the wall being blocked off and barriers placed around the damaged area.
