A SCHEME to build five affordable homes at Lockerley has finally received the green light.
On Tuesday Test Valley’s southern area planning committee voted in favour of amended proposals which include repositioning chimneys and the addition of solar roofing panels.
Chris Buchan-Hepburn from the applicants Hydemartlet said his organisation had worked ‘very closely’ with Lockerley Parish and the community to bring the scheme, which includes three two-bedroom two three-bedroom houses, forward.
‘It’s an eco-homes development and for local people,’ said Mr Buchan-Hepburn.
Romsey Tadburn member Mark Cooper asked officers to ensure hedgerows around the site between Lockerley railway bridge and Butt’s Green were maintained.
Planning officer Georgina Wright assured him conditions imposed on the applicant would cover this.
Lockerley Parish Council has been fighting for years to get more low cost housing in the village. Currently 33 people in the village and are on Test Valley’s housing department waiting list.
The last social housing built in the village was at Clem’s Way – named after special constable, Clem Arthur.
