IT WAS the best 18th birthday present he could have hoped for.

This was how Adam Curtis felt as he was ripping open his A-level results yesterday morning with his friends at Barton Peveril and getting the results he needed.

The North Baddesley teenager got an A in geography, a C in history and physics and a B in AS archaeology.

He said: “This is first birthday present I have had and it exactly what I wanted – I thought as long as I did well in geography I would be happy.

“I found out a few months ago that my birthday was also results day and I knew what I got would make or break it for me.

“I’m really pleased and relieved.”

Adam is going to Southampton Solent to study geography with environmental studies and hopes to go on to do research into climate change.

However, he was far from the only one to be pleased with his results as the Eastleigh-based college got its best results ever with 98.8 per cent on students passing at A-level and 93.3 percent at AS-level.

Principal Jonathan Prest said: “It is so pleasing to see so many happy faces, most people have done really well.”
