A SISTER found her older brother hanged at their family home in Chandler's Ford, an inquest has heard.

Stephanie Fry, an Eastleigh College student at the time, had been asked by her mother Georgina to go home and check on Daniel, 21.

She found him dead in his bedroom - a converted garage at their property in Thirlstane Firs - around lunchtime on April 30.

Winchester Coroner's Court heard on Wednesday (November 18) that Mr Fry had begun developing problems after his parents had split when he was 11.

Simon Burge, deputy coroner for central Hampshire, said: "I'm sure all of the family were affected greatly by the marriage breakdown in 1999.

"Daniel seems to have been most seriously affected and I am sure Mrs Fry had her own problems. Far from throwing him out or getting tired of him she continued to look after Daniel.

"You did all you could," he added, addressing the family. "There was no way of knowing Daniel was going to go into his bedroom and do what he did."

Mr Burge recorded a verdict that Mr Fry had taken his own life while the balance of his mind was disrupted. A post mortem found cocaine and alcohol in his system.
