ROMSEY’S vicar pulled some pints after blessing a pub. The Rev Tim Sledge served the customers at the Star Inn, in the Horsefair, on Monday evening at its official re-launch under new landlady, Sharon Conduct and business partners, Mark Bramley and Louie Stephens.

The vicar was joined behind the bar by Abbey verger, Chris Harpham.

Appropriately, guests were treated to a glass of Bishop’s Tipple on the house, courtesy of brewers, Wadworth.

Mr Sledge said: “I worked in pubs and restaurants long before going in to the Church. Sharon and Mark accompanied me on a trip to Burundi in the summer, so I was more than happy to support this local business and help get it back on its feet. Running any business is a struggle these days, so the Star needs all the support it can get.”

About 150 people showed up to support the Star on Monday evening, including Romsey’s MP, Caroline Nokes.

Mr Bramley said: “I think the whole of Romsey is pleased to see Sharon back behind the bar of a Romsey pub.”

Previously she was landlady of the Tavern for many years.
