Michelmersh Silver Band can rightfully claim to be the best brass band in Hampshire.
The band travelled to the Riviera Centre in Torquay at the weekend to compete in the West of England Brass Band Championships, where their performance of Bertrand Moren’s Mountain Views earned them fourth place in the First Section category, making it the highest placed Hampshire band.
This was only Michelmersh’s fourth appearance in the First Section and the result meant the band narrowly missed promotion to the National Championship Section for the first time in its 126-year history.
Your next chance to hear Michelmersh Silver Band in concert will be at Romsey Abbey in June when it performs ‘Summertime’ – a concert featuring numbers from Broadway and West End shows as part of the Music in Romsey season.
