TVBC councillors vote to sell-up and move up north

A north-south divide appeared in Test Valley Borough Council last Friday night as members voted to sell the authority’s Duttons Road offices in Romsey.

The proposal agreed two nights earlier at the cabinet meeting was passed by 24 votes to 13, with Lib Dem opposition members and Tory councillors from the south of the borough opposing the move.

Members also backed the proposition to buy the old magistrates’ court in Church Street, currently occupied by Hampshire Social Services, to house a customer services unit.

Around 65 other Romsey staff would be relocated to Andover’s Beech Hurst offices, which is currently under-occupied.
