A WINCHESTER School of Art student has beaten off competition from thousands of others to work with a top fashion brand.

For knitwear designed by Natalie Crossan, 22, has been chosen by Daks to sell in their stores.

She is one of 12 up-andcoming design students who have been partnered with a UK fashion brand to launch a range of limited edition jumpers.

Backed by HRH Prince of Wales, Vivienne Westwood and Christopher Bailey, the competition has been masterminded by The Campaign for Wool.

Fashion, textiles and design students across the country competed to design sweaters which will be sold in top UK stores, which also include Top Shop, Marks & Spencer, Harvey Nichols, Pringle, John Lewis and Jigsaw.

“I knew how important the opportunity was and got really stuck into the design process and researching the heritage brand,” said Natalie. “I was over the moon when I found out that I had won, it meant so much to me and that I would not only be promoting the use of British Wool but have my design made and sold in the Daks store. I feel that the whole experience has helped open my eyes to the history and tradition of British knitwear, which is an area I’m looking forward to exploring further at university.”

The ‘Wool School’ jumpers will be launched into stores nationwide from next Monday which also sees the start of UK Wool Week.
