MEMBERS of Alresford Rotary Club have been helping to spruce up the area around a new nursery school in Cheriton.

Cherry Tree Pre-School relocated from the village hall to the former Scout hut on the recreation ground earlier this year.

Rotary have built all the raised beds and planted up the area immediately outside the building. Member, Peter Tudor, said Rotarians would be installing more features in the spring.

The pre-school wanted to create a wildflower bank, a musical instrument “play panels” area, herb/flower beds and some tiered decking.

Jo Ferguson, pre-school leader, was delighted that the Rotary club had accepted the challenge.

It had already raised over £30,000 to convert the old Scout hut, but had run out of funds for the garden until Rotary stepped in.

The project follows on from the Sun Hill School pond project and the Stratton Bates Rec landscaping, both in Alresford.
