TIME is running out for Overton residents to have their say on a solar farm proposed by Luminous Energy and Belectric, on 17 acres of land at the Lordsfield Plantation.

The farm could provide enough energy for 995 homes.

At a parish council meeting in Overton, Cllr Colin Fowles raised the fact that residents have until 22 July to have their say on the proposals.

He said: “I think the whole thing is horrible. It is in the wrong place.”

After the meeting, Cllr Peter Baker said that the farm would be in the wrong location, too close to where two Overton residents live.

He said: “Renewable energy is absolutely vital because of environmental reasons but this application goes against the recommendations of the solar panel watchdog, which states it should not be next door to people’s houses.”

The plans are on the Basingstoke and Deane planning portal website, and the case number is 14/01777/FUL.
