A CHARITY that helps integrate people with disabilities into the community has been given a welcome cash boost.

The Andover branch of Phab was presented with £800 by Andover and District Lions Club last Friday to help them with their work in and around the town.

The Lions club raised the money last month at their ‘fluffy pink pig event’ where members got together to race battery powered pigs, alongside other activities such as bingo and a raffle.

President of the Lions club, Hazel White, who presented the cheque to representatives from Phab, said: “We thought of Phab because they are in the town centre every week and try to bring people with physical disabilities and integrate them into the wider community, which is a very worthy cause.”

Chairman of Andover’s Phab, Ken Wedge, said the money would go towards maintaining the group’s minibus, which takes its members on various day trips throughout the year.

Club leader, Eileen Mills, added: “We would like to give our full thanks to the Lions Club for how they have supported us and all they have done for us.”
