A GROUP of regulars from an Andover pub swapped the bar for the Tarmac to raise hundreds of pounds for charity.

Six ladies from the Foresters Arms, in London Street, donned their running shoes to tackle the Thruxton Circuit in aid of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

The team, who were led by landlady Anne Evans, raised £700 for the life-saving service after completing the 1.3-mile route as part of the charity’s annual run around the circuit.

Anne was joined by Pauline Raey, Michelle Netherwood, Tina Humphery, Debbie Dewey and Debbie’s army medic niece, Chelsea Beech, who turned the event into a half marathon by running the circuit six times.

Debbie, of Sutherland Court, Andover, said: “We do quite a lot of fundraising at the pub for various charities.

“This year we decided to do it for the Air Ambulance because Michelle is friends with one of the Air Ambulance pilots and you never know, one day you might actually need them.

“Anne is the powerhouse behind it all, without her none of this would be possible.”
