BIKERS took to the skies following the opening of a new urban sports facility in Andover.
The concrete park, which has been designed for skateboards, BMXs and scooters, was officially opened by the Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Jan Lovell.
Young daredevils from across Test Valley marked the occasion by trying out the new ramps and showing off their highflying skills.
Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Councillor Ian Carr, said: “I am delighted the urban sports facility is now open. It has long been my ambition to deliver a concrete skate park for the town and it is fantastic that this has finally come to fruition.”
Cllr Carr added a word of caution to those using the site, urging them to stay safe ahead of the Christmas period.
“Although people use the facility at their own risk, I would urge everyone to look after the facility and take care to protect themselves and other users,” he said.
“When using the skate park please make sure you wear the appropriate protective clothing and helmets and look out for other users to make sure you aren’t doing anything that might cause an accident.”
A professional Skate Jam display, which had been planned for the opening last month, will now take place in the spring.
