FIREFIGHTERS were called to assist with the rescue of a stricken horse which later had to be put down.
The incident happened at Tidworth Equestrian Centre last Friday at about 9.30am.
Crews from Salisbury attended when the animal was unable to get up in its stable. A specialised harness was used to lift it to allow for vets to treat it.
Dan Cooke, from the fire service, said: "Fire crews were there for three hours helping stable staff and vets to move the horse.
"Unfortunately, it was too badly injured."
The horse was put down at the scene.
