AN Andover family have been left devastated after they were the victims of yobs for the third time in three months.

The Broomes have had two cars stolen and burnt out, and their replacement vehicle has now been scratched from front to back.

The family, who have lived in Tintagel Close for 15 years without any previous incidents, had two vehicles stolen from the car park near their home in the space of ten days in the run-up to Christmas.

Caroline and Jason Broome owned two Ford Granadas, the first of which was stolen on November 24 before it was found burnt out at Anton Lakes.

Their second vehicle was stolen on December 4, and was found burnt out around the corner at Galahad Close.

Now the couple have found that the car they used their savings to buy, and have owned for just a month, has been keyed down one side.

“We drove the old cars because we couldn’t afford new ones,” said Caroline, 43, who works as a nanny.

“It’s been heart-breaking. We had child seats that were burnt during the fires, and my eight-year-old son had his scooter and trainers in the first car.

“How do you explain that to an eightyear old? We cannot get all that back.

“The scary part of it was they set fire to the second car in a residential area, where it was sat alongside other vehicles.

It doesn’t even bear thinking about.”

Mrs Broome said that the incidents have hit the family in the pocket.

She said: “We didn’t get much from the insurance. All the money we had saved up for home improvements has gone on buying the new car.

“It’s got to the point now where it’s been three times in three months and I think ‘Who have I upset?’.”

Her husband said: “I’m having to rely on lifts to work because we no longer have a spare car.

“If there was some CCTV in operation it wouldn’t have happened. If they had some it might stop people from doing it in the first place.

“I’m just paranoid these days, checking the car three times to make sure it’s locked. I don’t leave anything in the car any more.”

Witnesses or anyone with information can call police on 101.
