THE driver who damaged a Fiat Punto in the town centre on Saturday night has come forward and apologised.

Terry O'Neill left his blue Punto in the George Yard car park overnight and returned to find considerable damage to the front passenger side.

He initially thought the driver had fled the scene without leaving details, leading to a witness appeal on andoveradvertiser.co.uk

Following publication of the article online, Mr O'Neill said the man responsible had come forward.

He said: “He's apologised and offered to pay for the damages.

“He said that he left his number on the car but the rain must have washed it away. There are decent people out there.”
