AN ANDOVER woman, inspired by her cousin, has had her long hair chopped off for a charity that makes wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment.

Charlotte Kingman, of Augusta Park, visited Salon 73 to have her lengthy locks cut to donate the hair to the Little Princess Trust.

The 36-year-old was inspired to donate her hair to the charity by her cousin Jasmine, who suffers from Crohn’s disease.

She said: “My cousin has always been a bit of an inspiration, she’s always tried to help other people.

“I had not heard of the charity before until Jasmine donated her hair and I thought it would be nice to help children with cancer.”

The transformation was a big change for the civil servant, who has kept her hair long for the past decade.

She said: “I got married last year so I had to keep the length for then.

“It is such a small thing to do, I just hope it helps.”

Talking about her new look, Charlotte added: “I love it, it is a lot less hassle.”

Vanessa Cleary owns the salon where Charlotte had her hair cut.

She said: “I thought it was an absolutely amazing thing to do.”

Each real hair wig costs £300 to make with 120g of hair. For more information about the Little Princess Trust visit littleprincesses.org.uk.
