A FEMALE jogger fled to Andover police station in tears after a man chased her down the street this morning.

A runner has posted a message on social media warning residents to be alert following the incident at 7am.

She said: "I was jogging past Wolversdene Road in Andover and up to Old Winton Road. As I turned into Old Winton Road I passed an oldish man who was talking/singing to himself.

"I thought nothing of it and jogged passed him. As I did that I could hear footsteps jogging my speed behind me. I ran between two cars to cross the road as I knew he was close to me and as I did I turned to see if he was actually running after me, with which he looked me in the eye and ran faster to catch up with me.

"As no-one else was around I sprinted my fastest to get to Winchester Road where I knew there would be people/cars. When I got to Winchester Road I looked to see if he was still there but he had gone.

"I went straight to the police station in tears and they logged my complaint and went looking for him. They said there was not much they could do as he didn't actually do anything to me, but my thoughts were... what if I hadn't have ran so fast and he did catch up with me, what would he have done then?

"This is prime example of why I do not run with headphones and always have my whits about me as there is nothing more scary than hearing a strangers footsteps behind you and them looking you in the eye as they're running after you."
