A CONVICTED child sex abuser is on the run after failing to turn up to court for a new trial.

Joseph Tsang was found guilty in his absence of committing sexual offences in Hampshire after a six-day trial at Oxford Crown Court.

The 31-year-old, from Oxford, was convicted of two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.

Police believe the Chinese national may have fled overseas to Hong Kong, where it is understood he has family.

Tsang was also awaiting sentence after being convicted of other sexual offences earlier this year that took place in Oxford, including three counts of sexual activity with a child under 16.

He is described as 5ft 7ins, slim, clean shaven, with brown eyes and short straight black hair. Tsang usually wears glasses and has earrings in both ears.

Tsang has access to a black Suzuki Swift with the registration number BV07 VEL.

Det Chief Insp Katy Barrow-Grint, of Thames Valley Police, said: "If anyone knows the whereabouts of Joseph Tsang then I would urge them to look inside their conscience and think about the victims who have been through a living nightmare at his hands.

"These victims are entitled to justice. If you see Tsang then you should call 999, or if you have general information about his whereabouts then please call 101."
