A FIVE-year-old girl who was diagnosed with a brain tumour will be flying off to see Santa this Christmas thanks to The Chantry Centre.

Faith Sharpe from Weyhill collected tickets for her whole family to see Santa in Lapland at Thomson Travel Agency in the shopping centre on Tuesday.

The Sharpe family will be travelling to Lapland where Faith will get to enjoy the snow, stay in a log cabin, see real reindeer and meet Santa himself.

The trip has been organized by Thomson Holidays and donated by the Chantry Shopping Centre.

The team at Thomson, have also upgraded the flight so that Faith can meet the captain and receive a special scrap book of the visit.

In July Faith was diagnosed with a brain tumour in her brain stem and Laura Sharpe, Faith’s mother, is determined to see that Faith gets the most out of life while she battles with this threat to her health.

Faith has had diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, or DIPG, an extremely rare paediatric brain tumour that typically strikes between the ages of five and seven, and infiltrates the brain stem.

Steve Cotney, Chantry Centre manager, said: “When we heard about Faith and her family’s desire to see Santa in Lapland we were eager to help out.

“The bravery and optimism of the family made this a cause we could not ignore.

“When we have our own Santa and travel agents at the centre we felt particularly drawn to the family’s appeal.”

Faith’s mother Laura said: “It started with family and friends creating pages on ‘justgiving’ but the number of people whose hearts have been touched by Faiths’ condition just grows and grows.

“Faith has already enjoyed a trip to Disneyland Paris with her sisters Lacey and Brooke.

“She has also met her heroes One Direction and will be flying to Turkey to swim with dolphins.”
