A TEENAGE Andover wine thief has been given a youth offender contract after admitting stealing bottles of wine worth more than £85 in July and August.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to stealing seven bottles of wine worth up to £56 from McColls during two incidents on the same day in July.

He also pleaded guilty to stealing four bottles of wine from Tesco Express to the value of £35.96 on another occasion in August.

Magistrates have referred him to the youth offender panel for a six-month rehabilitation contract.

He was also ordered to pay £84.96 in compensation together with a £15 victim surcharge.
