AN ANDOVER mum says her 11-week-old daughter is having to take antibiotics as a result of the mould in her Aster managed property.

Mum-of-three Emily Stainer, who lives in Ouse Court, River Way, with her daughters aged two-and-a-half-years-old, fourteen-months-old and 11-weeks-old, says she has had to throw away birthday presents given to her second oldest daughter due to the damage mould has caused to them.

“She’s barely had a chance to play with them and I’ve had to throw them out,” said the 19-year-old.

“I had to chuck the highchair and buy a new one.”

“We have had mould here since we moved here, I didn’t mind at first because it was only a temporary move.

“It wasn’t much of a problem, then it started spreading.

“It’s been 18 months now and recently its been getting really bad.

“This is the worst it’s ever been.

“It’s all on my mattress, on the ceiling, around the windows.

“I have green fluffy mould by the fridge and by the back door.

“They told me to use bleach, which is fine, but you don’t want to use it too much around little children.

“I clean it but then it comes straight back.

“We have used special mould paint in the bathroom, but it’s back again.

“There are no vents in any of the windows. I was told to open all the windows and turn the heating up, which I have done, but I’m going to get billed, I struggle as it is.

“I just want something to be done about it.”

An Aster Group spokesperson said: “We’ve been working closely with Miss Stainer after she first reported a problem with mould in her home to us in October.

“Mould and condensation is not uncommon at this time of year and, in many cases, is caused by everyday living.

“On this occasion, we’re arranging to have the mould removed.

“We’ve also given Miss Stainer comprehensive advice on how she can avoid the problem in future.”
