POLICE are appealing for witnesses after thieves stole more than £50,000 in CASH from two houses in Andover.

The two homes in Lark Close were broken into at sometime between 2.30pm and 3pm on Monday 8 February.

The thieves forced entry through the front doors of both properties and stole cash totalling more than £50,000.

Two young males, described as white and in their mid to late teens, were seen running away in the direction of Smannell Road at 3pm.

It is believed one was holding a black briefcase.

Police Constable Andrew Ferguson said: “Did you see these people that day? Have you noticed any relatives, friends or acquaintances with a large amount of cash in recent days?

“If so, you may have information that can assist us with our investigation.

“As ever, we would urge residents to ensure they have secured their properties properly, locking all doors and windows.

"Avoid leaving valuables where they can be seen and do not keep large amounts of cash at home.”
