A 20-year-old man who stole a suitcase and alcohol from an Andover supermarket totalling nearly £1,000 has been given a suspended sentence and ordered to pay compensation.
Alexandru Vasile-Georgian, of Baring Road, Northampton, admitted to stealing the suitcase and alcohol to the value of £980 from ASDA in April when he appeared in Basingstoke Magistrates' Court recently.
He also admitted to committing a further offence while the subject of a conditional discharge imposed by Birmingham and Solihull Magistrates' Court at the beginning of April.
Vasile-Georgian was sentenced to nine weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, because the offence was deemed so serious by magistrates due to his "complete disregard" for court orders in committing three offences in a short time period.
The bench also ordered him to pay £980 in compensation.
