AN Andover man has been fined and sentenced to 200 hours community service for assault and criminal damage charges.

Benjamin Alan Cheyne, who lives in Bell Road, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court yesterday (Monday 20 June) charged with two counts of assault and one of criminal damage.

The two assault charges took place on 23 April and 11 May this year.

The criminal damage occurred on 11 May when he damaged the screen to an iPhone.

All the offences took place at the same property in Savoy Close and involved the same victim.

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to all the charges and was sentenced to carry out 200 hours unpaid work, and ordered to pay £170.
