A TIDWORTH woman is a week away from taking on the challenge of a lifetime when she makes a 1,800km journey alone across Europe on a Me-Mover to raise money for the Danish Diabetes association.

Natalie Thomas, who lives in Nadder Road, will embark on the 30 day challenge next Friday and will travel from Denmark through several countries including Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Switzerland.

The Me-Mover is a step-machine on wheels, made for intense full body exercise in the streets and pathways.

The 29-year-old said: “I am super excited about the trip having been on some longer training rides where I have been testing kit and nutrition.

“I will be burning around 3,000 to 6,000+ calories per day so nutrition is a huge part in the success of the trip.

“After my first long trip down to Bournemouth I felt rough the next day due to not eating or drinking enough, so added more for my ride of 105km and it worked because the next day I just had slightly aching legs.

“The dietitian who is working with the challenge, Renee McGregor, has recommended 60-90g of carbs per hour.

“I am excited about travelling alone as I think it will be an awesome personal adventure too.

“I am a little nervous, but mostly excited, and have quite a bit to get done along with a triathlon race and two university open days.

“I will be posting on social media and uploading a video each day to show my progress.

“There is a map in one of my blog posts showing the route I am taking too.”
