A BUDGET supermarket is set to open in Andover next week.

Aldi are opening their new branch, on Weyhill Road, on Thursday, September 22, at 8am.

Construction for the supermarket giant was temporarily halted recently after ancient remains were discovered on the site.

Aldi also made a small blunder through social media after announcing it had already opened earlier this week.

The store will hold a special golden ticket event to mark its arrival.

The first 100 people in the queue will be handed a golden envelope, each containing tickets to win a range of prizes, including a 32” Full HD TV with built in DVD Player, Luxury Hampers, Drone Cameras and Rugged DAB Radios.

The store manager, James Blake, will officially open the store alongside representatives from Andover Young Carers, who will receive a donation in support of the group’s commitment to the community.

Customers in the queue on the morning of the opening will be treated to hot sausage and bacon sandwiches from Aldi’s specially selected range, and cups of tea of coffee.

Mr Blake said: “The team and I are looking forward to welcoming customers into the new store.

“With some great golden ticket prizes up for grabs, we’re hoping for a busy morning.”
