A TEST Valley Borough Councillor says he is "safe and sound in a hotel" after a devastating fire at his family home.
Councillor Nick Adams-King, who represents Blackwater ward, says "two-thirds" of his Awbridge home were destroyed in the blaze last night.
Fire crews from across the county were called to a house in Stanbridge Lane after receiving reports of a blaze at 8.46pm.
The ground floor, first floor and roof of the building were severely damaged by fire, and two adults and three children were rescued.
An ambulance was called to the scene at 9.15pm but none of the residents needed hospital treatment.
In total six fire engines attended the scene from Romsey, St Mary’s, Redbridge, Totton and Eastleigh.
