ORGANISERS of one of town’s biggest events, taking place this weekend, are asking people to dig deep into their pockets for two local charities.

Andover Carnival, starting from Vigo Park, will be taking place on Sunday.

The carnival committee’s chosen charities for this year are Andover Breathe Easy and Andover Lipreaders.

Kevin Rush, committee member, said: “At present this year’s carnival is looking like about three times the size of last year’s carnival.“

“We urge you to come out and help them support two local groups by filling the collection buckets with all the loose change you can give.”

Andover Breathe Easy is a local support group, which helps people with lung conditions understand and manage their health problem.

It is the only UK charity looking after the nation’s lungs and aims to make sure that everyone breathes clean air with healthy lungs.

Andover Lipreaders is a local community group which provides sessions for adults with hearing loss to manage this and to use lipreading.

The group exists to provide deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people with lipreading tuition, coping and communication strategies and practical advice on how to manage their dayto-day activities in a world designed for people who can hear.
