VETERANS, residents and officials will be taking part in Remembrance Commemorations across Hampshire and Wiltshire this weekend.

The anniversary of the end of the First World War will be marked by parades, services and acts of Remembrances across the area.

In Andover an Armistice Day Commemoration will be held in the Garden of Remembrance, St Mary’s Church on Saturday, 11 November at 10.45am.

On Remembrance Sunday, St Mary's Church will hold a service at 10am and there will be Garden of Remembrance Service at 10.45am in readiness for a two minutes’ silence at 11am.

A parade will also form on Sunday morning at Wilkinson's car park, ready to leave at 10.15am and make its way up to the church via Eastern Avenue and parade back to Wilkinson’s car park after the services.

Councillor Karen Hamilton, as immediate past mayor of Test Valley, will also be presenting two wreaths at Stockbridge for the Remembrance Commemorations - one on Saturday at the War Memorial and one one Sunday at St Peter's Church.

Soldiers from 26 Engineer Regiment will march from Corunna Barracks at 9.45am to the War Memorial with the church service taking place at 10am. The act of Remembrance will then take place at the War Memorial at 11am.

Castledown Radio will once again relay the Remembrance service from St James’ Church to the High Street.

Next Sunday will be the first year we will remember those who fought for our country at our new War Memorial.

In Tidworth a service will take place at St Michael's Church at 10.10am.

After the service the congregation will then walk to the War Memorial, where the act of Remembrance will take place.

Those who only wish to attend the event at the War Memorial have been advised to arrive at the memorial by 10.50am.

Students and staff at The Wellington Academy will also be marking the event with their annual whole school Remembrance Service this Friday between 10.30am and 11.15am.

The service will be led by the Archdeacon of Sarum, The Venerable Alan Jeans, and will be a community event involving the Garrison Commander and representatives from 26 Engineer Regimen, the Academy CCF Contingent as well as staff and pupils from the academy and local primary schools.

In Whitchurch wreaths will be laid at the war memorials and services held at All Hallows Church, on Sunday starting at 10:20am.

And in Overton a parade will gather at 10:20am in Sprents Lane on Sunday and will step off at 10:35am.

The parade will make its way down Sprents Lane, Winchester Street, Kingsclere Road, and Church Road.

Wreaths will be laid at the war memorial outside St Mary’s Church at 10:50am before the two minutes silence at 11am.

There will then be a Remembrance service at the church at 11:05am.
