A GOODWORTH Clatford artist is raising money for charity this month by auctioning off an art piece every day.

Lynne Pugh is juggling her art classes, commissioned works and looking after her granddaughter while painting a picture every day to be auctioned off for the Amazing Alice charity.

Ten days into the challenge and Lynne is already packing a painting to go off to Australia, but she admits it is much more demanding than she originally thought.

She said: “It has been more of a struggle than I thought it would be, it’s quite time consuming and I really struggle to do things badly because I want to raise as much money as possible.

“I have my 18-month-old granddaughter round every Monday and I still have to do a painting. She was sitting with me playing with watercolours and paintbrushes while I was frantically painting this week.”

Each picture goes up on the online auction for 48 hours, and closes at 8pm each night.

Bidders can message Lynne on Facebook or her website to contribute a sum, and the highest bidder is contacted once the two days are up.

Lynne decided to take on the art marathon for the Amazing Alice charity, due to her own connection with Alice who the charity is named after.

The 15-year-old girl attended Lynne’s church with her family until she passed away from terminal cancer in May this year.

Amazing Alice, now set up in her honour, aims to help other families “make precious memories” with their children who have been given a terminal diagnosis.

Lynne said: “I had seen her grow up and when her family got her diagnosis they threw themselves into it and made precious memories with her.

“The family would come to our church and as well as praying for her to get better, it seemed that it wasn’t going to happen and so they really made the most of their time with her, and her friends as well were able to go to concerts together when she was feeling well enough.

“It can be hard to do a lot of events and drop everything but when you are a family with a child with cancer, that does become the most important thing that you enjoy the time you have with them, to do the things that they love with the people they love.”

Lynne is hoping to raise at least £1,000 from the 30-day art extravaganza, and is keeping her creative side at large with a diverse mix of works from sculptured mice to pastel concert scenes and watercolour puffins.

Her picture The Concert is up for auction until 8pm tonight, while a remembrance-themed Poppies painting is still accepting bids until tomorrow (Saturday) evening.

A display of printed paintings and cards will also be on display at Stockbridge’s Coffee Lab to go towards Amazing Alice.
