A fire that ripped through a family home last night is being treated as arson by police.

Around 30 firefighters were called to the King George Road house at 8.59pm, working through the night to contain a blaze that affected two properties. 

A number of occupants were evacuated from the house and no-one was injured in the incident. 

Police have now completed enquiries and having reviewed the circumstances and evidence available, have decided that no further action will be taken. 

A police spokesperson said: "We do not consider it in the public interest to take further action."

"We were called at 9.23pm on Thursday 9 November to a report of a fire at a flat in King George Road, Andover.

"Officers closed the road at the junction with Silverbirch Road while colleagues from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service put out the fire.

"A number of people were evacuated from the building. No injuries were reported.

"The fire is being treated as arson.

"We have now completed our enquiries and having reviewed the circumstances and evidence available, we have decided that no further action will be taken."
