CROWDS did not let the gloomy weather and grey clouds dampen their spirits at Chute’s annual fete.

Hundreds descended on King George’s Playing Fields on Saturday to enjoy the village’s fair which has been running for more than 30 years.

The fete featured organisations which set up stalls on the field to showcase their offerings to event-goers.

There was also fun for old and young alike to enjoy with a traditional Punch and Judy show giving crowds a laugh, along with a bucking bronco, inflatables and even a steam engine or two.

Owners and their prized pooches took part in the day’s “main attraction”, a dog show to give the furry friends the chance to show off their skills.

Chairman of the fete committee Louise Stormer said: “The weather wasn’t the best as it was slightly cloudy but a lot of people turned up and we raised a lot of money for very good causes.

“Everybody had a fantastic time and the stalls were great - good fun was had by all.”

Once the funds have been collated, they will be split between a number of village organisations including the village hall, playing fields and Chute Club, along with others to have bid for help.

Talks will begin in the coming month for next year’s fete but the organisers are now said to be enjoying a rest before preparations start.
