Police step up hunt for flasher

2:55pm Thursday 12th April 2012

POLICE are hunting for a flasher who may be responsible for a series of indecent incidents in the Andover area.

The latest offence happened as a female jogger ran along a footpath adjacent to Salisbury Road.

At about 6.10pm on Tuesday, 27 March, the 48-year-old victim was running opposite the Anton River in Andover, when she saw a young man walking in the direction of Upper Clatford ahead of her. As she ran past him in the underpass on Poets Lane, she saw that he had exposed himself and was performing an indecent act.

When the woman returned home she read an article in the Andover Advertiser which detailed another similar incident in the area. After she read the description of the offender in that incident, the victim believed that she had just witnessed the same man and reported it to the police.

PC Glen Dawber said: “This man’s actions both shocked and offended the victim.

“It would appear that this is part of a series of indecent exposure incidents, involving the same man in the Andover area.

“I am urging anyone with any information about this incident, or who the offender might be, to get in touch with us at the earliest opportunity.

“We are working hard to investigate this incident and any others that are linked to it, to enable us to trace the offender and put a stop to him committing any further offences.”

The man police want to speak to is described as white but with olive skin, aged between 17 and 18, slim and of a slight build, 5ft 4in to 5ft 5in, with shoulder-length, light brown hair, which was messy in style and had a fringe swept across his forehead.

The man is also described as clean shaven with a good complexion and wearing a pastel blue polo shirt and blue chequered shorts.

Anyone with any information should contact PC Dawber at Andover police station on 101 or via the website at hampshire.
