BASINGSTOKE quiz fans are being urged to put their little grey cells to the test for a good cause.

Naomi House children’s hospice is calling on local supporters to take part in a special quiz tournament which is raising money for a major refurbishment project called the Caterpillar Appeal.

The charity is looking for teams to take part in the Caterpillar Quiz tournament to help fundraising for vital building work.

The Basingstoke round of the quiz, which is being held Hampshire-wide, will take place at the Hampshire Court Hotel, in Chineham, on October 30, from 6.30pm onwards.

The top teams from each round will be invited to a grand final at The Holiday Inn in Winchester on Wednesday, November 5, for a chance to be declared overall champions.

Entry to the quiz costs £60 per team of up to six people and includes a meal on the night.

Tina Starbuck, corporate account fundraiser at Naomi House and Jacksplace, in Sutton Scotney, said: “We hope our supporters will come and have a great night out, made even better in the knowledge that they will be helping us to realise our dream of bringing Naomi House facilities up to an exceptional standard, with ample space, modern technology and beautiful surroundings.

“It is sure to be a lot of fun.”

The charity needs to raise more than £4million through its Caterpillar Appeal to pay for extensive building work at the Sutton Scotney site.

Plans include increasing the size of bedrooms, bathrooms and communal spaces, adding flexible areas for play, art and music therapy, and building a bridge to connect the Naomi House and Jacksplace hospice buildings.

Naomi House has been caring for seriously-ill children from Hampshire for more than 17 years.
