COMMUNITY causes in Basingstoke are being invited to apply for funding raised through an annual charity collection.

The Basingstoke Round Table generated more than £4,000 from its 10-night Santa Sleigh tour around the town, and it is now looking for groups to benefit from the funds.

Jason King, from Basingstoke Round Table, said: “Our community giving programme is aimed at supporting community causes in the Basingstoke area and in particular causes that are less likely to be able to access funding from mainstream sources. Round Table aims to support activities, events or purchases that will directly benefit local individuals, groups and organisations.”

In the last few years, Basingstoke Round Table has helped many groups, including Taking Steps, which works with those affected by domestic abuse, Anna’s Challenges, which raises funds and awareness for children with Cystic Fibrosis, and Helping Hands for the Blind, a charity that promotes independence for visually impaired people.

To apply email BasingstokeRoundTable@gmail.com before February 28.
