VOLUNTEERS are being sought by Sainsbury’s Kempshott to help plant 105 trees at Beggarwood Park on Mothering Sunday.
The supermarket in Wallop Drive has teamed up with The Woodland Trust and Old Down & Beggarwood Wildlife Group to plant the trees.
Those willing to offer a helping hand will join colleagues from Sainsbury’s along with Basingstoke MP Maria Miller and local councillors, Dan Putty, Terri Reid and Rebecca Bean.
Sainsbury’s Kempshott store manager Daryl Copper said: “We’re delighted to be able to provide our community with these trees.
“In working in conjunction with the Old Down & Beggarwood Wildlife Group, we hope the trees will provide a welcome habitat for wildlife, as well as an extension to the wood in years to come.”
Planting is expected to kick off at 10am this Sunday.
The trees are being planted close to the woodland behind the service road to the Pets at Home, Dreams and Argos stores on Wallop Drive.
