SENTINEL Housing Association achieved double gold success last month.

At the beginning of April, Sentinel was awarded the Investors in People Gold Standard.

This was followed by winning Gold in the prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) annual Occupational Health and Safety Awards.

Cathryn Gee, head of organisational development at Sentinel, said: “We’re immensely proud to have achieved the Investors in People Gold Standard.

“Sentinel people are passionate, dedicated and hard working.

They’re the heart of our organisation and truly live our values. Our continued success is a direct result of their combined talents.”

Investors in People champion best practice in people management and organisations and achieve the accreditation through a rigorous and objective assessment process.

It is held by over 15,000 organisations across 75 countries, but only seven per cent of the organisations who hold Investors in People have reached Gold Standard.

The assessors were particularly impressed with Sentinel’s organisational planning, cross-departmental communication and the way the organisation measures how it makes a difference.

The RoSPA Awards, which date back 59 years, recognise commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work.

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “The awards encourage improvement in occupational health and safety management.

“Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as Sentinel Housing Association, contribute to raising standards overall and we congratulate them.”

Alison Patrick, Sentinel’s health and safety advisor, said: “Keeping our staff and customers safe is our highest priority. Achieving this soughtafter accolade recognises the part everyone in the organisation plays in making sure our standards are as high as they can be.
