MORE community champions are needed to help people change their food waste habits across Hampshire.

Hampshire County Council is urging more volunteers to come forward across Hampshire, including Basingstoke, to help people change their food waste habits as part of its Smart Living scheme.

Hampshire households are throwing away £60 of food on average each month and the county council’s scheme aims to educate residents on how to use leftovers, shop better and compost more to encourage them to reduce their household food waste.
