A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a road traffic collision in Oakridge this afternoon.

Police are investigating the fatal crash.

Hampshire Constabulary received a call shortly after 2.20pm today following the collision between a motorcycle and a white Nissan car at the junction between Oakridge Road and Sherborne Road, in Basingstoke.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 20s, was later pronounced dead. Police are in the process of contacting and informing next-of-kin.

Two people were travelling in the white Nissan at the time of the collision. Neither were injured.

Road closures are likely to remain in place at the crossroads by Oakridge Road and Sherborne Road for most of this evening while police examine the collision scene for potential evidence.

Traffic is being diverted via the town centre and Popley.

Hampshire Constabulary would like to thank witnesses who remained at the collision scene to give statements to police.
