A RALLYING call has been made to have a say on proposed changes to a bus service.

Sherfield-on-Loddon resident Christine Stillett has raised concerns about potential changes to the Number 14 bus route which runs through the village on its way to and from Tadley and Basingstoke.

Hampshire County Council is currently consulting on changes to bus routes across the county, as well as street lighting and the concessionary travel scheme but Christine feels more publicity needs to be done on the issue.

The Sherfield-on-Loddon resident of 11 years said: "One of the concerns is that it is being advertised a lot has responding online. Not all people have access to the internet so they need to know how to respond.

"The bus routes are really important to have here. It affects people of all ages - with health appointments, getting to school, to work. For older people, they tell us we need to get out to more social activities but how can we without bus services?"

The consultation is part of plans the county council has to meet swingeing budget cuts.

Hampshire County Council needs to save another £80 million by 2021, a year before an £140 million budget gap was due to be bridged.

The deadline to respond is Sunday, 5 August.
