MORE progress has been made on bringing a new retail park to Brighton Hill.

More drone footage has been taken to show the progress being made at the emerging St Michael’s Retail Park, on the site of the former Smiths Industries Aerospace site, in Winchester Road.

Work began in November last year after the proposal was given planning consent in July 2017.

The units are due to be handed over to the retailers in September ahead of opening in October.

The developers have already signed up the likes of Aldi, Nandos, Costa Coffee, Oak Furniture Land and Furniture Village to some of the units at the site, sandwiched between the Brighton Hill Retail Park and Basingstoke Business Centre.

According to the park’s website, Natuzzi, a furniture brand, has a bid under offer to have one of the remaining six units. Two of the four biggest units have yet to be filled, according to the website.

It is believed that the site will generate more than 300 new jobs.

The video below, shot by Apex Drone Photography on August 16, shows the progress made.

Currently on the site, glazing has also been completed at a number of the units.

Tesco has previously had planning permission refused to build a 63,000 sq ft store on the site and announced in 2015 it had shelved plans and was to sell the site.
