Mayor wants to find mystery artist
4:00pm Monday 30th April 2012 in Basingstoke By Simon Moss

THE Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane is hoping a mystery artist, who sent in a painting of him, will come forward.
Councillor David Leeks received the picture in March but wants to track down whoever painted it so he can pass on his thanks.
Cllr Leeks, whose year of office ends next week, said: “It is a wonderful piece of art, probably taken from a photograph of me. I would like to thank whoever did it.”
The framed painting depicts Cllr Leeks in his Mayoral regalia. It currently adorns the wall in the Mayor’s parlour, at the Civic Offices, in London Road, Basingstoke.
Anyone who knows who the artist is can contact Debbie Collins, mayoral co-ordinator, on 01256 845591.
