A WINCHESTER estate agent has launched a children’s drawing competition in aid of a cancer charity.

Savills have launched the Draw Your Perfect Home competition in a bid to raise funds and awareness of the Haven Breast Cancer Support Centre.

The charity launched a £2.5m fundraising appeal in April 2013 to open a new centre in Titchfield. So far over £1m has been raised but Savills hopes the competition will give them an extra boost.

Steven Moore, head of residential sales at Savills, said: “The Haven is our chosen charity this year and we wanted to do something that would be both fun for children, and that might encourage donations to the Haven, who are raising funds to open their first support centre in our region.

“Drawing your perfect home is a theme that was an obvious choice for us, and it will be interesting to see what children in Winchester and the surrounding area come up with. The Haven has recently secured a location in Titchfield, and it’s now all about raising funds for fixtures and fittings, staff costs and so on - so every penny counts.”

The competition is free to enter, aimed at children aged four to 11, and the winner will receive two adult and two child tickets to Legoland. Drawings will be judged at the show on September 6 by Adam Architecture’s George Saumarez Smith at this year’s Alresford Show.

Hannah Daws, fundraising and communications director, from The Haven added: “We are thrilled that Savills has nominated us as their charity of the year. The children’s competition is a fantastic way to start the partnership and we look forward to seeing how these young people view the perfect home. Creating beautiful and calming environments is a key aspect of our service delivery, offering a safe ‘haven’, away from clinical settings, for anyone affected by breast cancer.”

Entry forms can be collected from the office at Jewry Street or they can be downloaded by visiting savills.co.uk/Winchester.
