A BEAUTY salon wound the clock back and had a blast from the past as it threw a 1940s-style launch party.
With help from vintage enthusiasts, staff at Glamour Works hair and beauty salon in Bitterne Park, Southampton, dressed the part in their 1940s dress, hair styles and makeup.
Music was provided by wartime tribute act The Air Raid Sirens. The new salon, which was opened by mayor of Southampton Cllr Sue Blatchford, has a retro theme with memorabilia and photographs adorning the wall.
Owner Ruth Lynch said: “We are doing all very modern treatment but we do have a makeup artist who does vintage makeup.”
The party also got the seal of approval from Ruth’s 92-yearold gran, Audrey Ryder, who was a nurse in Winchester during the 1940s.
Ruth added: “She said it was all very authentic.”
