TWO Hampshire women have launched a new business hosting charity events across the county.

Callie Sennett and Jeannie Scrancher have formed CJ Events – a business aimed at organising and promoting charity events.

Miss Sennett was inspired to start the business after hosting her own ladies night, near her Lockerley home, when her father inspired her to take the leap.

Unfortunately Terry Sennett, a former freemason, died just before Christmas but his 22-year-old daughter took it all in her stride and decided to honour his memory by acting on his advice.

“He really wanted me to do my own thing,” Miss Sennett said. “He said ‘you need to find a niche in the market and make it your own’ so I decided to do it.

“It was only after the event at the pub that Jeannie said I should do it more often and it just took off from there.”

Now she and 54-year-old Jeannie are set to host an evening of pampering and indulgence in aid of their friend, Alex Lewis.

Mr Lewis, who lives with his partner Lucy Townsend, was hit by A streptococcus bacteria. The normally harmless illness developed into septicaemia and toxic shock syndrome and doctors were forced to amputate all his limbs to save his life.

The event starts at 7.30pm, at the Grosvenor Hotel in Stockbridge tonight and will have over 20 stalls offering a variety of girly-goodies.

Entry costs £5 on the door.

Ms Scrancher added: “Hopefully we will go from strength to strength.

“There’s not many 22-year-olds who have done what Carrie did and it’s great we’re doing it for ourselves.”
