A WINCHESTER restaurant – popular with double Oscarwinning actor Colin Firth – has been named as one of the top ten Thai eateries in the UK.

Bangkok Brasserie, owned by local entrepreneur Miff Kayum, was listed in Harden’s top ten UK Thai restaurants alongside regional and London-based locations.

In fact it is so liked by the Hollywood star that the restaurant even named a dish after him.

Daily Echo:

The Colin Firth Thai Mango Chicken – which was created in honour of the former Barton Peveril student – is a popular dish with customers which include none other than David and Shirley Firth – Colin’s parents.

A Daily Echo review said: “The ‘Colin Firth’ – or Geang Kari Mamuang – tops the bill of house specials and is a delicious yellow curry with slices of mango.

"With a light and creamy texture, it boasts the traditional Thai freshness but leaves your tastebuds with an enjoyable kick.”

Harden’s described the Jewry Street restaurant as an “outstanding” establishment
