MARC Reddy, managing director of First Hampshire, Dorset & Berkshire, is in the running again for a prestigious national bus industry award.

For the second year in succession, Marc has been shortlisted for manager of the year, large operator, in the annual awards of routeONE, the coach and bus industry weekly magazine.

Since being appointed two years ago, Marc, 44, has been responsible for a business with 1,200 staff at 11 depots, including Southampton, Portsmouth and Fareham, and 470 vehicles.

Marc joined the bus industry in 1987 and his roles in the following 28 years have included as Commercial Director and then Deputy Managing Director for First Hampshire & Dorset between 2001 and 2006.

He was also Managing Director of First South Coast and then Regional Commercial and Business Growth Director for First South West, Wales and Ireland.

In his spare time, Marc is a volunteer Coastguard Rescue Officer for HM Coastguard.

Commenting on his nomination, Marc, based at First’s Hampshire, Dorset & Berkshire depot in Empress Road, Southampton, says: “It is a great honour to be shortlisted once again by one of the industry’s most respected publications. Public transport is an exhilarating and fast-moving sector in which no two days are ever the same and I would not want to be working in any other business.”

Marc will find out if he has completed this notable double achievement at the routeONE Awards Ceremony taking place on Wednesday 30 September at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel.
